LEE LOVETT ~ PASTOR

Lee Lovett came to Shelbyville in February 2006 after an eleven-year appointment in Herrin , Illinois .

Lee has been in the ministry 28 years in several churches in Central and Southern Illinois , and served in the U. S. Army as a Chaplain during the Gulf War, honorably discharged from the reserves in 2002 with the rank of Major.

Lee’s education includes a Master of Theology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas , Texas

Lee and his wife Sandra were married in 1981 and have three children: Ashley, Tim, and Allison.

He has served as member of the Conference Communication Committee, and as a Trustee of the Wesley Foundation at SIU, Carbondale .  He has been on the District Committee on Ministry teams, and a trustee of the McKendree College Voight lecture series.

His interests include Information Technology, running, bicycling, and Biblical Archeology.

JASON & JOY PALMER ~ YOUTH COORDINATORS & SECRETARY

Jason and Joy have been the Youth Coordinators at the Shelbyville First United Methodist church since 2001, and Joy has been the church secretary since May of 2005.  Jason is an American history teacher at Moulton Middle School in Shelbyville and he is also the Jr. High Cross Country and Track coach.

Jason and Joy were married in 2000 after meeting at Greenville College .  They have two sons, James Ryun and Jacob Andrew, a dog, Sophie, who they enjoy taking for walks.  Jason's father is a United Methodist Minister and he has grown up in the Methodist Church .  Joy grew up in Idaho where she was very involved in the local Free Methodist Church .

Their interests include watching sporting events (especially the Pittsburg Steelers), fishing, bird watching, walking and running, and visiting friends and family in various areas of the country.

PHYLLIS FEKEN  ~ MUSIC COORDINATOR

Phyllis Feken has been working with music at the First United Methodist Church since 1981.  She began as the Chancel Choir director and has also done Jubilate Bells (Adult Hand bell Choir), Wesley Singers (Pre-teen Choir), and the Vacation Bible School music leader for a few years.  Phyllis also used to lead music for the children during the Sunday school hour.  Each of these jobs has developed into the position of Music Coordinator where she directs the Chancel Choir and organizes the music for each Sunday service.

Phyllis has a degree in Music Education from Millikin University and she previously taught band for 11 years.

Phyllis has two boys.

Her interests include sewing, gardening and she also enjoys traveling.

ROBERT & PATRICIA TULL ~ CUSTODIANS

Robert and Patricia have worked as custodians at the Shelbyville First United Methodist Church for the last 27 years.  They were married in 1971 and have five children between the two of them.  Both have lived in the Shelbyville area for most of their lives.

Pat’s interests include knitting, walking, and her three cats.
